sparklet’s first day of school
it’s finally here.the week began with a orientation meeting with the teachers, a mixer/playdate with the other kids, a school beautification day spent gardening, obligatory school supply shopping, and then — finally — a real first day in the classroom.

looking back, it all went, mostly, without a hitch. couple teary eyes from mommy and papi on the first walk over. two or three days of “i don’t wanna go” at the end of the first full week. but now, she owns the school — and the teachers seem pleased as punch to have her.

the first of a two part afternoon — auntie melissa invited sparklet over to make cookies, and the mighty quinn and i fled to the national aquarium in d.c. for a few hours, capped off with his first official stop for ice cream.See Slideshow of the Photos on Flickr:

the best bits were her reviews in the class room. lots of words like “loving” and “maternal” and they said she has a really good heart. which makes us happy. you can teach classroom skills and classroom manners, but harder to teach kids to be good human beings.
