Naebody in Particular

it’s pretty rare that i’m too terrified to take a photograph, but — we went out into the pacific on a whale watching expedition this afternoon and the seas were so high that i never once got out my camera once we broke the harbor.

we did see a pod of whales. they were beautiful. but when i should have been taking the picture, i was instead hanging on for dear life, trying not to throw up, and watching a dear friend come one hand-hold away from going overboard.

nature is exciting.

the work thing that has me out in California rented out the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the evening. i’ve heard tons of good things about the aquarium, and it was pretty great — but, when you’ve grown up going to the national aquarium in Baltimore the bar for a great aquarium is set pretty high.

i’ve also realized that my point and shoot camera takes crappy pictures in low light. i took dozens, but the only photos that (mostly) came out were of the aquarium’s iconic jellyfish tank.

work has sent me out to Monterey, California for a marketing conference. as is usual with these things, we don’t have a heck of a lot of time to wander, but it’s such a beautiful location they have to let us out of the conference center at some point, right?
