when sparklet was born, i cut out the caffeine in a vain attempt to get better sleep. this was brilliant in principle, but utterly unnecessary because sparklet is going to bed late enough (and i’m getting up early enough) that there is precious little room in my life for insomnia.
so, i’ve fallen back on to the coffee bandwagon. actually, sparklet and i are sucking down liquids at tynan right now — i’m working my way through a café mocha, and she’s working her way through a café mommy.
we just need to get sparklet to switch to decaf. for the last couple of weeks, she’s been going down later (midnight) and later (1:30 am) each night … so late that i’ve started falling asleep on the couch waiting for her to fall asleep on the couch.
and the very worst part are her “pre-sleep” naps — the little false starts that get your hopes up, only to be dashed when her eyes open up like saucers the moment you think you are safe to put her down.
in the good news department, combining ourtwo inconvenient, overnight feedings (2am, 6am) into just one inconvenient, overnight feeding (4am) proved to be a success … which means that the lady sparkler is getting much better sleep and a lot more of it.
now, we just need to get sparklet to lay off those after-dinner lattes she’s been sneaking.
