Day after Old Rag. I could hardly walk…
The Washington Nationals played the first baseball game in Washington DC since the Senators left in 1971. The Nats beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-3.

Made the rounds of the lights on the National Mall in DC. Stopped by the National Gallery of Art’s skating rink, as well as the Christmas trees at the White House and Capitol.
Normally, I wouldn”t think much about it. I would feel bad, flog myself quietly and go about my business. However, as the woman was standing in the middle of the street screaming at me, I began to ponder: Do you have the right to get upset about not being seen if you are wearing a long black skirt, a black shirt, a black jacket, with a black bag, under a black umbrella, at midnight at night?
I mean, please… A little common sense will go a long way.
There was a big event downtown all weekend, centered on the new WWII Memorial. Over the past month there has been two interesting articles in the Post on the Memorial, one on its appropriateness and the other on how WWII is being taught in schools.
One has to admire the service of our veterans, but you also have to wonder about how much this country reveres all things war…
