i really, honestly can take no credit for this one — but that doesn’t mean i’m not going to try.

good friends of ours bought a domain (mightymightyboigs.com) to migrate their old blogspot blog, and never made it past the content migration. after 10 minutes of setup, 12 minutes of page migration, and one pre-made wordpress theme (yup, it’s too nice to be mine) and we’re good to go.

  • july 4th

it’s sorta cute, the number of people who’ve asked about sparklet’s first 4th of july.

besides brunch with the mightymightyboigs (the highlight!) we spent the day hiding from the heat, and the night putting sparklet back to sleep after being woken up by late night, unlicensed “community” displays of patriotic exuberance.

    go, team america.

  • it’s a boy (but not ours)

    []
mightbabyboig and family just had a little boy — which got me to thinking maybe a boy wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world after all (not that i’ve got much choice in the matter). fwiw, the main reason i’m posting is to taunt the lady sparkler, that i got to hold sammy before she did. thbhthbthbthtbhbthbt.

p.s. dear mightbabyboig — dude. update your blog.

we’re officially one month past birth, which means baby sparklet is officially allowed (by the pediatrician, who was concerned about germs/fevers/black plague) to show her face out in public.

and no one had to tell us twice.

last night we went out to dinner (at the heights) for the first time in nearly six weeks, with the mighty baby boigs providing guidance, advice, and cover … which must have worked, because sparklet slept through the whole thing.

this afternoon, walked down to meridian hill park and played around in the last of the foliage. we keep forcing ourselves outside, thinking “this will be the last good day before spring” … but we’ve been saying that for a month now, and we don’t seem to be any closer to winter.

not that we are complaining — with a November due date, we honestly didn’t think sparklet would see the light of day until her aunt’s wedding in Austin next February — so, we’ll take whatever we can get.

  • pregnant passover

ordernow_30mslgbookfunny story … the lady sparkler and I went to a Passover seder tonight thrown by Mighty Baby Boig, and sat at the foot of the table with three pregnant women and their husbands.

best of all, no one there knew we were pregnant … we hadn’t been able to tell the hosts (and figured that major religious gatherings weren’t the best time to bring it up) but the lady sparkler’s avoidance of alcohol is probably giving her away to anyone silly enough to pay attention.

if women are really serious about this not-blabbing-for-12-weeks thing, they need to sink some investment capital into a way to look like they are consuming alcohol without actually doing it.

maybe a fake stomach with a second, external esophagus … or some kind of secret additive that turn alcohol into sugar, while still in the glass. where is a pregnant venture capitalist when you need one?
