stand up, sit down
it’s been quite a 24-hours for little miss sparklet. yesterday she started regularly sitting up by herself (she’s been doing it accidentally or with parental assistance for the last couple of weeks) and then this morning she pulled herself up onto her feet, in order to get into her toy box.crazy. next she’ll be asking for keys to the car …

firsts: order from a restaurant
we’ve been giving sparklet whole bananas and cubed avacados fairly regularly of late, but this morning (at The Heights) the lady sparkler decided to throw the baby girl into big people food with both feet.at brunch, sparklet was introduced to both raisins (from the raisin bread) and a plate of scrambled eggs (her very first order ever from a professional kitchen), all while polishing off a jar of baby food pears.
needless to say, daddy has announced that he won’t be available to help change sparklet’s diaper for the next 48 hours or so.

it’s not scampering around on all fours, but sparklet is now using her arms/torso to drag her healthily-sized bottom around. if emily the cat only knew … her life will never be the same. -

firsts: horsie, highchair
a couple of firsts for baby sparklet while we’re down in historic colonial williamsburg for a friend’s wedding:
- first horse — she seemed amused, but didn’t really get that it was an animal. i think it was just too big, and didn’t move quickly enough. she probably thought it was a hairy sofa.
- first high chair — part of growing so rediculously fast is that at six months she’s outgrown her infant car seat, but isn’t old enough to sit-up on her own … so we wedged her in there with a sparkly pillow, natch.
it probably goes without saying, but for what it’s worth the wedding isn’t a “destination” wedding — the colonial equivalent of a disney wedding package or something. the bride and I both had the great fortune to grow up in Williamsburg, surrounded by the odd million of tourists each season.
although, the notion of people paying extra to get married in knickers and a bonnet is really to delicious to *not* try and make money off of it.
