Don't forget the rule that your pet and your daughter can't share the same name. Otherwise, I would love for Sparklet to become Emily Parker.

I agree on "Chris." I always hated that nickname as part of my name because it was a boy's name. However, on the subject of nicknames, based on my own experience, you might want a name that doesn't have too many. Christina has WAY to many derivatives.

What about celebrity Parker names already taken? Is it safe to say you won't be adding another Sarah Jessica or Dorothy Parker to the world? :)

I always wanted a nickname, too, so good call on that, and on the elementary school test. It took me 25 years to chill out about people pronouncing my name wrong. I would add to the elementary school test, "Is there any easy way for bullies to turn the name into a joke about being fat, stupid, or crazy?"

Also, "Mc" and "Mac" mean "son of." There are a LOT of little girls running around with names that mean "son of Kenna."

Good calls, especially on the spelling issue. It's just cruel to give a child a name that no reasonable adult can spell without assistance.

As for names, I just kindof assumed you'd name her for Ann Richards. :) Seriously, no ideas, but you should check out one of my favorite websites, Baby's Named a Bad, Bad Thing: http://www.notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/
